Background & Function

  • Our staff consists of qualified and dedicated individuals who are committed to equipping the homeless youth in Simcoe County with the life skills required to live independently; empowering them to become healthy, productive men and women.
  • Our organization consists of a Board of Directors, an Executive Director, a Director of services, several evening and midnight Child and Youth Workers, and two counselors.
  • Volunteers are a very important part of the day-to-day operations of Youth Haven. We have co-op’s, students, church members, and community members who dedicate their time and efforts to our youth.
  • Every person involved in Youth Haven ensures a safe and healthy environment for all who call Youth Haven home.
  • Youth Haven is a non-profit organization that operates as an emergency youth shelter. Since 1987 we have served the needs of homeless youth between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one, providing shelter, food, counseling and a safe place to stay for approximately 700 youth per year. When necessary, we act as a liaison between the youth and their families and various social agencies in order to provide the best and most effective options for a youth’s wellbeing.
  • Presently, we offer shelter for 20 youth per night. The length of stay may be as short as one night or more than a month. We require youth who stay for extended periods to be attending school, working or actively seeking employment. We are the only shelter of our kind in Simcoe County and serve a very large and diverse demographic.
